GKE68, 6' x 8' Greenhouse Essentials Kit

GKE Greenhouse Essentials Kit The Greenhouse Essentials Kit includes the important parts to create an attractive, simple, sturdy, and highly effective 6' wide x 8' long x 7'9" high greenhouse in a weekend.

1 box, 64"x27"x5", 65 lbs. $499

Precut double-wall polycarbonate glazing panels

  • Virtually unbreakable. Hail and baseballs bounce off without leaving a dent. Impact strength is 30 times greater than acrylic and 200 times greater than glass. After glass, polycarbonate is the most flame resistant glazing.
  • Double-wall panels collect and save the sun's heat to help plants stay 10-20 deg.F warmer in the winter. If you use a heater, you'll save 40% of the cost to heat a single-pane glass greenhouse.
  • Maximizes the quality of light for full, straight and even plant growth. Sunlight is scattered by the ribs between the panel walls to surround plants without shadowing or burning them.
  • UV-resistant additive in panels blocks 98% of the harmful UV rays while transmitting 83% of the visible rays that plants need for maximum growth, so plants are more productive. Glazing carries a 10 year warranty against hazing and discoloration.
  • Panels won't crack or shatter so they may be cut with a fine toothed saw, allowing easy installation of plumbing or heating equipment.

Sturdy Connectors

Simplify and speed construction - NO ANGLE CUTS and NO FOUNDATION are needed. Two people can build the greenhouse in a weekend using standard tools: a saw, power screwdriver or hammer, a step ladder and a tape measure. Galvanized steel connectors align straight cut wood members at the correct angle, eliminating tricky angle cuts. The system of connectors creates a rigid frame using pressure-treated wood as the base, so no foundation is required. Corners must be staked into the ground. This greenhouse can withstand high winds and 17 lbs/sq.ft. snow loads (Roof ridge flashing is included in kit).

How-To Video

This video, along with easy-to-follow instructions with photographs makes assembly simple.

OPTIONAL Automatic Operator

An optional automatic vent opener is available for the back well vent. It needs no electricity or batteries. The vent operator contains a paraffin (wax) that expands when the temperature reaches about 65 deg.F, pushing the vent open to its fully opened position at about 85 deg.F. As it cools and the paraffin contracts, the operator's springs draw the vent closed. It is adjustable within approximately 5 deg.F and easily detachable for manual vent operation.
